Rose Gold-Copper Shell Bloom is part of a series of work that explores New Zealand’s most flat shell. These shells are usually forgotten and lost. Once as the sea’s skeletons eroding into the sand, are now reincarnated into a preserved geometric abstraction that gives rise to control within the destructive chaos of nature. Some of these shells are so eroded that their natural shine disappears. Here, I reuse their bacs with paint. A dance between man and nature, metal and carbon, the years of their life are expressed, much like the rings of a tree.
